It is a fun family event with the theme of “Celebrate Mesa Services.” Celebrate Mesa is taking place Thursday, June 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Pioneer Park, 526 E. Main St.
Celebrate Mesa will offer games, music, a zip line, bounce houses, a kids water zone, food vendors and so much more. Numerous City departments will have displays, information and fun activities. Mesa Police will have their helicopter, police cruisers and motorcycles on display; Mesa Fire and Medical will have an antique fire truck and a Transitional Response Vehicle (TRV); Mesa Solid Waste will have a collection truck; METRO will display a LINK bus, and Southwest Ambulance will have a camouflage support the troops vehicle. Admission is free but there is a $2 fee for the zip line.
“Celebrate Mesa is a fun way to thank the community for supporting the City and to celebrate the many services we offer,” Mesa Parks, Recreation and Commercial Facilities Director Marc Heirshberg said. “We had a tremendous crowd to celebrate our department’s 75th birthday last year at Pioneer Park and we wanted to continue with the idea of having a fun event that also raises awareness of how the City can be of great benefit to its residents.”
Celebrate Mesa will also have a raffle with numerous prizes, including museum and pool passes, restaurant coupons and a $100 gift card to Fiesta Mall.
Sponsors of Celebrate Mesa include SRP, Fry’s Food Stores, KVIT-FM (The Goldmine), City of Mesa, Playful City USA and Foundation for Mesa Parks and Recreation. The City will host another Celebrate Mesa event with a Halloween theme Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Red Mountain Park Soccer Complex. For more, visit www.mesaaz.gov/parksrec.
