District 1 Councilmember Dave Richins will host a Family Swim Night on June 18 at the Kino Aquatic Complex located at 848. N. Horne Ave. The free event will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will feature games, hot dogs and swimming. Families attending are encouraged to bring donations of bottled water to the event as part of Mesa’s Hydration Donation campaign.
“This is a great opportunity for neighbors to beat the heat and have some fun with the family,” Councilmember Richins said. “This is a chance for people to experience one of our great local pools and help those in need at the same time with water donations.”
With temperatures hitting triple digits on a regular basis, the City of Mesa is working with nonprofit agencies and businesses to provide supplies of water to the homeless and unsheltered. The sixth annual Mesa Hydration Donation campaign asks Mesa residents to donate any amount of bottled water to help the less fortunate during the hot summer months.
