Mesa, AZ – “This is My Mesa” is the theme of the campaign to get citizen input, as required by state law, for the General Plan Update. The City of Mesa will be holding a series of This is My Mesa community workshops during late March and early April. The workshops use the iMesa village concept by inviting people to look forward almost 30 years to 2040 and imagine the type of community they would like to have.
The following village meetings are scheduled:
Riverview – Tuesday, March 26, Whittier Elementary School, 733 N. Longmore
Citrus – Thursday, March 28, Living Word Bible Church, 3520 E. Brown Road
Central – Tuesday, April 2, City of Mesa Utilities Building, 640 N. Mesa Drive
Fiesta – Thursday, April 4, Crescent Crown Distributing, 1640 W. Broadway
Superstition – Wednesday, April 10, Superstition Springs Elementary, 7125 E. Monterey
Desert Uplands – Thursday, April 11, Falcon Hill Elementary, 1645 N. Sterling St.
Planning staff will make presentations and provide displays, surveys and information. An open house will be held at 6:30 p.m. followed by a presentation at 7 p.m.
Following the This is My Mesa community workshops, staff will begin drafting a General Plan Update for the continued growth and development of the City. A first draft plan is expected to be ready for public review by October 2013. After going through a formal hearing process, a final plan document will be submitted to the City Council for approval in June 2014. The plan, as approved by Council, will then be on the ballot for voter approval in November 2014.
