Celebrate at The Southwest Ambulance Arizona Celebration of Freedom
Mesa, AZ – With nationally-known musical attractions and a new location in downtown Mesa, The Fourth Annual Southwest Ambulance Arizona Celebration of Freedom is guaranteed to be one night of spectacular free fun and entertainment. The state’s “coolest” festival to celebrate America’s freedom and independence will be held Saturday, June 29 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. This year’s festival will be held along Center Street between Main Street and First Street, on Pepper Place between Center Street and Centennial Way and in the Mesa City Hall complex parking lots.
Cowboy Mouth is the headline attraction on Stage America, the event’s main stage, before the Chicago Cubs Salute to America program and fireworks. Based in New Orleans, the band is known for its live performances witnessed by more than nine million fans.
Local country music-fan favorite Mogollon kicks off the evening on the main stage with Tyrone Vaughan performing on Stage America following the fireworks show. The son of Jimmy Vaughan and nephew of Stevie Ray Vaughan mixes rock and blues with a slap of attitude Texas style.
The Chicago Cubs Salute to America program at approximately 9:15 p.m. will star 4Troops, a nationally acclaimed pop music ensemble consisting of four retired combat veterans who served in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This will be followed by the Fireworks Extravaganza at approximately 9:45 p.m.
Fallen Heroes Memorial will be a breathtaking memorial honoring the Arizona fallen heroes from the war on terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Patriotic Military Showcase gives you the opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of military vehicles and learn more about how you can support our troops.
Cox Freedom Plaza/Freedom Tailgate will showcase culinary delights from downtown Mesa restaurants and gourmet food trucks, drinks, games and live music from Stage America. Visit the “Proud to be an American” display and write why you are proud!
America’s Heritage Lane will include inflatable replicas of the U.S. Capitol, White House, Supreme Court and Washington Monument. There will also be costumed American founders giving you some fun photo ops!
Independence Hall will let you learn more about your family’s military genealogy, see the historical flags exhibit and sign the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
Uncle Sam’s Safety Zone gives you the opportunity to stop by and thank the men and women who save lives every day, check out their cool equipment and displays and learn important safety tips for your family.
Lady Liberty Car Show will feature cars and trucks and a rockabilly good time! Make sure to stop by and vote for your favorite. Stop to watch pin striping demos or take your photo with Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Elvis and Marlon Brando.
Yankee Doodle Kids’ Zone will feature carnival games, a petting zoo and face painting.
Celebration Splash Zone will have numerous water features including inflatables, soak zones and a dunk tank to provide the opportunity to have fun and cool down.
KOOL Zones sponsored by KOOL-FM will help you beat the heat and stay KOOL!
Liberty Bell Marketplace will feature a variety of vendor booths.
America’s Arts & Culture Showcase will have crafts and displays from the Arizona Museum for Youth, Arizona Museum of Natural History and Mesa Arts Center. Watch local chalk artists Kyllan Maney and Lauren Lee create a patriotic mural while you can help color in the stars!
Arizona’s New College Town will include several of Mesa’s colleges to provide information about the programs they offer.

PARKING AND STREET CLOSURES
Public Parking is available in most parking lots in and around downtown Mesa. Those reserved for volunteers and VIP parking will be indicated with signs. Because the event is along several streets, there is not a specific handicap parking lot. All public lots have handicap parking.
The following streets will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday, June 28 to 8 a.m. Sunday, June 30:
Center Street between Main Street and First Street
Pepper Place between Center Street and Centennial Street
First Street between Center Street and Centennial Way
Centennial Way will have both northbound lanes open but will be restricted to one southbound lane
Patrons of the Mesa Public Library, 64 E. First St., are being asked to access the Library from Centennial Way on the east driveway. The Library will be open that day during its normal hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Downtown BUZZ and Route 40 will have extended trips Saturday to cover the people leaving the event at 11 p.m. The extended trips are as follows:
BUZZ – last trip leaves Center Street and 3rd Place at 11:31 p.m.
Route 40 (Main Street)
o Eastbound -
last trip leaves Main Street and Center Street at 12:10 a.m.
o Westbound -
last trip leaves Main Street and Center Street at 12:05 a.m.
The all-day pass price is $4 off board and $6 on board. There will not be any service on the Main Street LINK Saturday or Sunday.
