Mesa, AZ – Arizona Museum of Natural History, 53 N. Macdonald in Mesa, is hosting Blast from the Past: Arizona History Home School Day on Thursday, Jan. 16 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. This fun interactive program provides a unique hands on, learning experience in which students take a step back in time to study historic Arizona. There will be a variety of educational presentations which include storytelling, crafts and games. Imagine what it was like to travel through the Southwest in a covered wagon, and to settle in the jagged mountains and valleys of Arizona. Hear exciting stories of explorers and prospectors who braved the perils of the desert to seek their fortunes. Learn what the 5 C’s are, and how they put Arizona on the map.
Don’t miss this opportunity for homeschoolers to enjoy imaginative experiences examining historic artifacts and participating in historic games and activities that were enjoyed by pioneer children long before the invention of X-Box. The cost is $2 for museum members and $6 for nonmembers. Pre-registration is required. Please contact Alison Stoltman at (480) 644-3553 or by email Alison.Stoltman@mesaaz.gov.
