Mesa, AZ – Dobson Library, 2425 S. Dobson Road, presents Auto Repairs, a yearlong series of programs to educate the patrons on the importance of vehicle care. Jeff Crawford, owner of Crawford's Auto Repair will be the feature speaker. With more than 35 years of experience as a mechanic, Crawford will give pointers of the ins and outs of how to maintain your vehicle. The following programs are on Saturdays from the months of April 2014 to March 2015 beginning at 11 a.m.
April 5: How to buy a car – Learn the costs of owning a vehicle and the steps to buying one.
May 10: Automotive Maintenance Safety Hazards, Safety Equipment and Tools.
June 7: General Maintenance – Owner’s Manual, fluid and oil checks, battery, fuses, belts, hoses and bulbs.
July 5: The Engine. Learn how an internal combustion operates, the differences between diesel and gasoline engines and choosing the right engine oil.
Aug. 2: Dashboard gauges and lights.
Oct. 4: Cooling Systems. Find out about the system that keeps your engine cool while driving (not your AC).
Nov. 1: Brake System: Learn how your brakes work, how often to get them checked and when the pads and/or shoes need to be replaced.
Jan. 3: All about tires – Specifications for air pressure, wheel alignment, wear bar, how to change a tire.
Feb. 7: Ignition and electrical systems – cylinder engine sequence, spark gap, and how too safely jump-start a dead battery.
Mar. 7: How the car industry works and why it’s better to choose a shop without a service writer.
