Mesa Public Library Summer Programs

Mesa, AZ – Mesa Library offers free programs for kids of all ages to stay engaged with activities during the summer months. The variety of programs includes reading, bowling, art and music. The programs will take place at the Main Library (ML), 64 E. First Street; Dobson Library (DL), 2425 S. Dobson Road and the Red Mountain Library (RM), 635 N. Power Road.    
Each library has an assortment of special programs for kids and families:

Summer Reading Kick-Off - Read and earn fun incentives. Everyone who finishes the program gets a free book at the end. The reading kick-off begins Thursday, May 30 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Main, Dobson and Red Mountain Libraries.   All ages. 

Bubbles Blast - There will be crafts and bubble blowing for kids of all ages.

Wednesday, July 17 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (DL)

Carpet Bowling - Kids of all ages can try hand bowling with red carpet bowling lanes, kid-friendly pins and bowling balls.

Thursday, June 27 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (RM) 
Wednesday, June 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (DL)

“Dark Shadows,” the MuV chat.  Bring your cell phone and chat about the movie as it’s playing using text messaging.  Texts will be displayed on the screen next to the movie for all to read.  This movie is rated PG-13 and is 113 minutes long.  Ages 12 and up.

Earth Rocks - Explore the earth’s wonders at this interactive program for school-age kids from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Game On! - The entire family can play board games, Wii and Rock Band every Monday from June 3 through July 22 at the Main Library from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Henna Art for Teens - Come experience the art of Middle Eastern Henna. Tuesday, June 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (RM)
Thursday, July 18 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (RM) 

“Huff ‘N Puff, The Story of Three Pigs” – EVCT presents this classic tale with new characters and several twists; part of their “Literature Alive” Program. Encouraging kids to read.  1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.

James Reid Juggling Workshop - For ages 10 and up. Limit 40 people.

Junk Drawer Bling - Explore new ways of using found objects and discarded materials to create unique art. For ages eight to 18.

Paws to Read - Paws to Read pairs Delta registered therapy animals, their handlers and young readers from first to 10th grades.

Rooting for Roots - Potato chip tasting. Programs are from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Thursday, June 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and again 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. (RM) 
YoYo Class with Tyler Serverance - World and National YoYo Champion is hosting a free YoYo Class for four weeks.  Participants may bring, use, or buy a yoyo onsite. Cash only.  No registration is required ages six to 15.
