Mesa, AZ – – The City of Mesa’s Extraordinary Properties campaign has recognized four property owners who exceed design standards in the areas where they are located. The recipients were recognized at the June 17 City Council meeting.
The property owners recognized for Extraordinary Properties are:
Commercial Property – Glenn Blackmore, owner of the Eclectic Monkey Emporium on West Main Street in downtown Mesa. Mr. Blackmore was recognized for the murals on the front of the building which are innovative, exciting and offer a real invitation to the downtown area.
Residential Property – Ruben and Gina Serna for their home on South Doran in the Poinsettia Villa neighborhood. The interior has been completely remodeled which Mr. Serna has done himself. The neighbors across the street love opening their living room curtains because of the view.
Residential Property – Gabriel Ortiz for his home on East 6th Avenue in the Western Homesites neighborhood. Mr. Ortiz has only lived in the home for six months but he and his friends have done all of the remodeling work and he hand-made the columns on the front of the home.
Residential Property – Jose Martinez for his home on South Nevada Way in the Junior High Park neighborhood. Mr. Martinez has done all of the home improvements himself over 15 years. The home is continually being improved.
The recipients of the Extraordinary Properties awards each receive a certificate and an Extraordinary Properties sign that will be displayed in their yards for three months. The winners will be nominated for the “Mayor’s Award for Building a Better Mesa.” Every Extraordinary Property nominee will receive a thank you letter and certificate.
Each quarter, a panel of community leaders will select the winners. If you see an extraordinary home or business, you can submit your nominations to firstname.lastname@example.org
