Volunteers needed for MLK Weekend of Service

Mesa, AZ – The City of Mesa is coordinating with HandsOn Greater Phoenix for a community service project that honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and show appreciation for the sacrifice of our military personnel. Approximately 20 volunteers are needed to paint the exterior of the home of an elderly Air Force veteran Saturday, Jan. 18 and Monday, Jan. 20 from 8 a.m. to noon as part of the MLK Weekend of Service in Mesa.
Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Volunteers who are 16 or 17 who wish to participate without a parent or guardian must bring a signed youth waiver form with them to the project. For more information, visit http://bit.ly/1bejGWZ.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be honored in Mesa through a series of events between Jan. 18 and Jan. 20. This will include the annual MLK Parade Jan. 20 from 11 a.m. to noon and the MLK Festival at the Mesa Arts Center from noon to 4 p.m. For more, visit www.mesamlk.org
