Mesa, AZ – The City will be collecting public comment on the first draft of a new General Plan for Mesa during a series of village meetings in October and November.
The General Plan provides a vision and guide to the community’s citizens, businesses, and officials as the community grows and develops in the future.
State statutes require cities to create general plans and specify topics that must be addressed in the plans. These plans must be updated every 10 years and approved by voters.
The village meetings will be held at the following locations with the doors opening at 6:30 p.m. for an open house with presentations beginning at 7 p.m.:
Tuesday, Oct. 22, Desert Uplands Village, meeting at Falcon Hill Elementary, 1645 N. Sterling St.
Wednesday, Oct. 23, Central Corridor Village, meeting at Johnson Elementary, 3807 E. Pueblo Ave.
Tuesday, Oct. 29, Riverview Village, meeting at City Utilities Building, 640 N. Mesa Drive
Wednesday, Oct. 30, Fiesta Village, meeting at Crescent Crown, 1640 W. Broadway Road
Thursday, Nov. 7, Citrus Village, meeting at Ishikawa Elementary, 2635 N. 32nd St.
Wednesday, Nov. 13, Superstition Gateway Village, meeting at Superstition Spring Elementary, 7125 E. Monterey
In addition, the draft will also be discussed by the Mesa Planning and Zoning Board at its November 20 meeting.  Staff will also be attending other community events and meetings to present and discuss the plan and is available for any group that might be interested in a presentation.
Based on the input received, a final plan will be prepared for public hearings and adoption by the City Council in June 2014.  The plan, as approved by Council, will then be on the ballot for voter approval in November 2014.  For more information, visit
