Mesa, AZ –Mesa Grande Cultural Park, 1000 Date St., is hosting a winter celebration event Saturday, Dec. 21 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.  This is the perfect "slow down and enjoy the season" break from holiday hustle and bustle!  This event is fun for the whole family, so stop by and enjoy crafts, demonstrations, and seasonal festivities.

Arizona Humanities Council is sponsoring our featured speaker, Registered Professional Archaeologist Allen Dart.  He will present “Southwestern Rock Calendars and Ancient Time Pieces” at 3:30 pm. Native Americans in the Southwest developed sophisticated skills in astronomy and predicting the seasons, centuries before Old World peoples first entered the region. In this presentation, Dart discusses historically known sky-watching practices of various southwestern peoples. He has worked full-time and volunteered as a professional archaeologist in New Mexico and Arizona since 1975.

Admission is $6 per person or $2 per person for members. For more information, please call 480-644-3553, email or visit our website at Find us on Facebook Follow us on Twitter @mesagranderuins.
