Mesa, AZ – A 60-day public comment period is underway on a second draft of This is My Mesa: Mesa 2040 General Plan. Throughout the months of February and March, Mesa residents can review and provide feedback about the City’s General Plan, which provides a vision and guide to the community’s citizens, businesses and officials as Mesa grows and develops in the future.
Following the 60-day public comment period, the Mesa Planning and Zoning Board will hold three public hearings during April and May. Dates for the hearings have not yet been scheduled. City Council will need to approve the General Plan by July 7 for it to be on the ballot for voter approval in November 2014.
Details of the General Plan are available at www.thisismymesa.org. The introduction chapter of the plan describes the vision for the community; summarizes the history and context of planning in Mesa; and provides a description of the purpose, preparation, and use of the General Plan.
State statutes require cities to create general plans and specify topics that must be addressed in the plans. These plans must be updated every 10 years and approved by voters.
Comments about the second draft of the Mesa 2040 General Plan may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
or to City of Mesa Senior Planner Tom Ellsworth at (480) 644-2182.
