Public hearings scheduled for This is My Mesa: 2040 General Plan

– The Mesa Planning and Zoning Board is holding three public hearings to get more input from residents on a second draft of This is My Mesa: Mesa 2040 General Plan.  The hearings will take place during the regular Planning and Zoning Board meetings April 16 and May 21 at 4 p.m. in the Mesa City Council Chambers, 57 E. 1st St., and during a special meeting April 30 at 6 p.m. at the Red Mountain Library, 635 N. Power Road. 


The City’s General Plan provides a vision and guide to the community’s citizens, businesses and officials as Mesa grows and develops in the future.  Details of the General Plan are available at  City Council will need to approve the General Plan by July 7 for it to be on the ballot for voter approval in November 2014.


State statutes require cities to create general plans and specify topics that must be addressed in the plans. These plans must be updated every 10 years and approved by voters.
