  • Approximately 1,600 volunteers will be participating in more than 50 service projects across the City of Mesa Sat., Oct. 25 as part of National Make a Difference Day from 7am to noon. Residents, neighborhood groups, local businesses, church groups and City employees have registered for a variety of beautification and cleanup projects. This includes 18 house paintings and yard cleanups as part of the Neighbors Helping Neighbors program.
  • A project to extensively renovate Hohokam Stadium and the Fitch Park training facility to accommodate the Oakland Athletics beginning in 2015 is expected to be completed in December. The exterior and entrance gates of the stadium are being painted and rebranded with the Oakland A's green and gold colors. The stadium is getting refurbished seating, a new scoreboard and new party decks along the foul lines. The Fitch Park training facility will more than double in size.
  • Nominations are being accepted for A Hero's Welcome to show our appreciation of our veterans and their families. The City will recognize the nominated veterans at the East Valley Veterans Parade on Sat., Nov. 8 in downtown Mesa. Nominations can be submitted to Gina Strazzara at The deadline is Mon., Nov. 3 at 4pm.
  • Approximately 60 volunteers are needed for the East Valley Veterans Parade Sat., Nov. 8 in downtown Mesa. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and be available on parade day from 8am until noon or from 9:30am until 1:30pm.
