  • Approximately 40 volunteers are needed to paint the house of a veteran in west Mesa as part of the 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance Thursday, Sept. 11 from 7am to noon. The event is part of Love Your Block in partnership with HandsOn Greater Phoenix. Visit www.mesaaz.gov/lyb and click on the 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance link to sign to volunteer.
  • Design concepts for a City Center, or urban plaza, in downtown Mesa will be revealed to the public Thursday, Aug. 28 at 6:30pm at the Mesa Arts Center. There will be an opening reception at 5:30pm and a closing reception at 8pm. Both receptions will include an open house. Three design teams have prepared concepts for City Center. The design concept process is funded by the 2012 parks bond.
  • Mesa's non-partisan Primary Election is Aug. 26 in conjunction with Arizona's partisan Primary Election. Voters wishing to receive an early ballot who are not registered with a declared party must select which ballot they wish to receive by contacting Maricopa County Elections Department at 602-506-1511.   • Goettl Air Conditioning has made a tremendous contribution to the Mesa Hydration Donation Campaign by presenting more than 500 cases of water to United Food Bank. Goettl's goal is to donate a total of 2,000 cases by the end of August.
