  • Mayor John Giles' first State of the City Breakfast, hosted by the Mesa Chamber of Commerce, is sold out. If you missed out on purchasing tickets, tune in to Mesa Channel 11 or www.mesa11.com/stateofthecity where it will be broadcast live on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 8 a.m.
  • A Day at the Diamond will be held Sat., Feb. 21 from 11am to 5pm to celebrate the grand reopening of Hohokam Stadium and the return of the Oakland A's to Mesa. The City of Mesa's free celebration gives you the opportunity to tour Hohokam Stadium and watch A's pitchers and catchers participate in their first official spring training workout at noon. The event includes a sports card show, live music, beer garden, food and a kid's zone with inflatables and games.
  • The Mesa Historic Preservation Board is sponsoring a Historical Fiction Writing Contest for all 4th, 5th and 6th grade students living in the City of Mesa. The essay must be a fictional story with real and imaginary characters on the life and times of the Hohokam Indian Culture or Mesa Grande Park. The contest is open until Feb. 12.
